Blank

I'm scared. I'm scared of the blank page. Staring back at me. I'm scared of the words that could cease to be. I'm scared. I'm scared of the open book. Of that first look. I'm scared of the open page. Staring openly back at me. I'm scared...                                     ... but why should I be? I see; the open page, and brand new opportunities. I see; the unwritten word, and breathing seas. I see, and entire new world; open, and staring back at me. But why am I afraid? I'm not. Are you? No. Why? Because, I have no reason to be. I do not fear the open page, the piece so blank and unscathed. I do not fear the words, should they come near. I do not fear. Do you hear me? I do not fear. No open page, or shallow book, no rippling river, no babbling brook. I fear no blank page, then what is it, that you fear? Nothing. That's the point. Don't you get it? ...

Locate the Artist

Image
Hello friends! While going through my room, I came across a picture I had bought some time ago but never found a way to hang. While it's only a copy, it's a very good photocopy. Sadly, however, neither the picture itself or the frame it's been printed on has a watermark or a signature of any kind. I've never had to search for artwork online when I've had a physical copy, so I'm quite new to this. That being said, this is the painting/photocopy in question: I was hoping in the off chance that any of my readers out there would know anything about this painting, that they'd be able to help me in my search. Or, if you know any good ways of finding artists online, to maybe offer up some advice on the subject?

Inspire Me: Tag, I'm it!

Apologies for the lateness of this, but here's a thing! I've been tagged by the lovely Autumn Meadowlark from  Alpine Writer ! Thanks dearie! Here are the rules: Copy these totally amazing and spectacular rules onto your post. Smile and twirl in a circle and look at your favorite inspiring thing and take deep breaths as you prepare for my amazingness (or awkwardness perhaps in my case). Thank your gorgeous, lovely tagger. Tag five other bloggers (or more, or less, or whoever) Have fun and be honest and answer all the questions (and feel free to add some of your own!) Step one, done. Step two *does it* done! Step three, done! Step four–oop! Getting ahead of ourselves, let's answer some questions first! No. 1: What is one of the most inspiring things to you? Well... It's hard to say what is the most  inspiring thing to me. Perhaps, sitting in nature during quiet moments, or being in busy coffee shops, I think, perhaps just being is often times ...

Life

Some parts of my life feel like they happened just yesterday, but others, a lifetime ago.

An Ode to 10 o'clock Slushies

Grab the keys, and get in the car. We're going drivin' don't you worry, it's not far. We're gonna sing till the sun comes up, hit the green light, fill 'er on up. Get the gas and turn the key 'cause my friend, we're gonna get Slushies. Mango, pineapple, and strawberry too. I'll order Fanta, and grab a Malt too. We're gettin' slushies, and just before ten. So don't you worry my friend, we'll be back home 'fore then. I got mine, and you got yours. Drive on safe now and watch the road, our Slushies in hand and we're headin' on home. But don't you worry my friend, 'cause we'll be back before ten. An Ode to 10 o'clock Slushies©Mae Fort

Adam Young Scores–Apollo 11

Image
Recently I managed to acquire the full 11 scores by Adam Young (though he has them all available on his website for free and I encourage you to go check them out!)  Today I listened to the album titled: Apollo 11: the music to accompany the momentous event of man landing on the moon. As such, I feel that the music is a magnificent accompaniment to one of the most well known events in modern history. I encourage you to go listen to the fabulous album, and let me know what you think! -Mae *I do not own this artwork, it belongs to the creator James R. Eads.

Word of the Day: A Poem

Dapper and sonder, Whither and wander, Here or there, and still further ne'er. Words that please the mind, and sounds that roll from tongue. Sound so beautiful and blissful, I cannot fathom mine. Tell me your favorite word, and I shall tell you mine, so long as I am not left breathless, in the wake, of your mind. Word of the Day: A Poem©Mae Fort

Word of the Day

Zephyr : 1) a soft gentle breeze.  2) a fine cotton gingham.  2b) a very light article of clothing.

Word of the Day

Maelstrom : a powerful, often violent whirlpool. A whirlpool in the sea or river.

Come sit with me.

Oh me, oh my, is anyone still awake? The hum of life and cricket crows, Of hummingbirds and daffodils, and lilac flower grows. Of times of tot and tittle tee, of laughing days, just you and me. Oh me, oh my, is anyone still awake? I sit here and wonder, just where I would dare to wander. Where I would choose to grow, if not for one and simple crow. Oh me, oh my, is anyone awake? Where the world goes, and where the world blows, let the simple shining truth, come out once more, out from under this old roof. Oh me, oh my, is anyone awake? There's a story and a thing yet to be told, and once again I'm not certain where it goes. I just move along with the words, to go wherever it is that they may flow. Oh me, oh my, isn't this a sight? My heart yearns for things unseen, and deep within the valley lay, a silver bay, and sunset gleam. Oh me, oh my, is anyone still awake? Come sit a...

Take Care of Yourself

So often, oh so often, things in life bog us down. And we wonder, "why?" My friend, life is hard. But at the same time, are you taking care of yourself? Now I don't mean that in a discouraging way, on the contrary, what I'm asking is, "are you taking care of your health and wellbeing?"  It's easy to get caught up in life and have things easily slip away from us and out from underneath the limelight. I know, it happens to me all the time. But one thing I am endeavoring to change for certain this year, is how well I take care of myself. Such as: drinking more water, getting at least 1 hr. of high cardio a week to start, not eating so much sugar, spending less time on the computer and more time reading books, less time watching tv and more time studying.  These things, can be either simple or hard, it just depends on how you look at it. Drinking water: I don't know when this became a "problem" for me, I just stopped drinking as much ...

Sherlock Holmes: A Study in Scarlet

Sherlock Holmes: A Study in Scarlet.  While I have read this story once or twice before, I never seem to fail to catch something new and intriguing after each read. The writing is packed with information and details that are not always caught on the first read through, yet never fails to be enticing.  The characters of Holmes and Watson as the newly introduced duo of Detective and Doctor are a merry pair when it comes to the differences and thought processes of two such individuals. While on some occasions nothing other than a logical agreement is called for, there never fails to be a faithfulness of character when disagreements do arise. While one persons knowledge and treasure may not be for another, the same can be said for the two variable lifestyles of Holmes and Watson.  The eccentric Holmes with the various habits and hobbies is anything but predictable, in contrast to his flatmate Watson; the routine following Doctor who learns to adopt the strangeness o...

First and Foremost

Today, January 1st, 2017.  I didn't go to sleep until well past 1 AM, and woke up about 8 hours later.  I didn't finish a drawing I was working on, until close to 12:30 in the morning.  I didn't do a lot of things this past year that I could have. But I won't let that stop me from doing my best this  year.  I use the word I a lot. Because I find myself both easy and hard to talk about. I talk about myself and my experiences, because I don't know what else to say.  Sometimes I'll post a word, or maybe a story, an opinion, who knows. But for the most part, I've talked about myself because I don't really know what to say. So how about this for a change:  Talk more about things, people or places. I mean, come on. I feel like I spend all of my time researching. Have something I talk about consistently maybe once a month or once a week. Share joys, not sorrows.  Three goals for my blog. How about three goals for me: Grow c...
