An Ode to 10 o'clock Slushies

Grab the keys, and get in the car. We're going drivin' don't you worry, it's not far. We're gonna sing till the sun comes up, hit the green light, fill 'er on up. Get the gas and turn the key 'cause my friend, we're gonna get Slushies. Mango, pineapple, and strawberry too. I'll order Fanta, and grab a Malt too. We're gettin' slushies, and just before ten. So don't you worry my friend, we'll be back home 'fore then. I got mine, and you got yours. Drive on safe now and watch the road, our Slushies in hand and we're headin' on home. But don't you worry my friend, 'cause we'll be back before ten. An Ode to 10 o'clock Slushies©Mae Fort

Thanks for the red sock

Well, I for one find my friend  Rubix's  ways of tagging people quite fun, and half the time I end up doing or having or wearing one of the things she lists for the tagged people. This time, I was wearing blue and red patterned socks. Well, here be the pretty picture to go along with this nomination: Quite lovely in my opinion! And without further delay, the rules/recommended order of things. How I started my blog, well...  I started blogging about 6 years ago on a blog that no longer exists. Then about 5 years ago I began my second blog with a very similar intent but it didn't go for very long, then a third blog that lasted...

Come sit with me.

Oh me, oh my, is anyone still awake? The hum of life and cricket crows, Of hummingbirds and daffodils, and lilac flower grows. Of times of tot and tittle tee, of laughing days, just you and me. Oh me, oh my, is anyone still awake? I sit here and wonder, just where I would dare to wander. Where I would choose to grow, if not for one and simple crow. Oh me, oh my, is anyone awake? Where the world goes, and where the world blows, let the simple shining truth, come out once more, out from under this old roof. Oh me, oh my, is anyone awake? There's a story and a thing yet to be told, and once again I'm not certain where it goes. I just move along with the words, to go wherever it is that they may flow. Oh me, oh my, isn't this a sight? My heart yearns for things unseen, and deep within the valley lay, a silver bay, and sunset gleam. Oh me, oh my, is anyone still awake? Come sit a...

People

Things that I find fun in personalities #1: people who dress like they're going to a rave or a rock convert but love drinking tea and having charming conversations.

Because I liked Rubix's questions, and had no idea what to blog about. So this'll be a jump start of sorts.  So let's go!  Question 1: If you could paint your entire house one color, what would it be? I would paint it cream, or pale green. Either of those two colors would suit me fine!   Question 2: Do you prefer to write on notebooks or computers? This really all depends, up until recently all of my writing was typed on the computer. As I have begun writing on paper, however, it seems to be a much more satisfactory way to get it done.   Question 3: Winter or Summer? I'll say Winter, because there's just so much that I enjoy doing during the winter months. I have to be honest, though, I don't always care for the cold weather itself.   Question 4: Favorite movie currently in theatres? Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Hands. Down.   Question 5: If you could learn a skill overnight, what would it be? Out of any skill I could possibly think...

Fewer Things

There are fewer things more enjoyable than biting into a homemade cookie. Made to the right amount of crispy chewiness. The chocolate chips scattered throughout it. The richness of the butter making it wonderfully smooth. Paired with a good cup of tea, I can think of few things more that to me, bring joy to my morning touch of breakfast treat. Christmas's Savory Sweet  Where do they come from?  Where did they go?  The cookies are made,  The doughs are rolled.  Made of every type and call,  The brilliant delights.  A kind for all.  So many treats and so many sweets,  To all of us this kindly thrall.  So sweet and enamoring.  This tasty treats delight.  They bring a smile,  And a light,  To all who eat,  A Christmas's chocolate savory delight. ©Mae Fort

Today's Playlist

Listening to music today yielded an interesting playlist from several different artists.  While usually when I listen to music I'll either listen to all of the same artist at once, or a similar music genre. Today features an upbeat compilation along with some cheery Christmas music for a finish! Hope you enjoy! *note, I own none of these songs, simply sharing the awesome. Krewella - Enjoy the Ride (lyric video) Krewella - Enjoy the Ride (Vicetone Remix) Vicetone - United We Dance Owl City - Kiss Me Babe, It's Christmas Time A Great Big World - Kaleidoscope Owl City - Peppermint Winter  I hope you enjoy the songs! Although, please keep in mind I have only listened to these particular video links so I can't tell you what other videos may contain/sound like.

I like it like this

I think I like living like this; with my knitting and my books, and a good cup of tea.  None to complicated, as it's just me.  I like living like this; with my blankets all around me.  Snuggled up and warm, as it should be.  I like it like this, all fuzzy and calm.  I like like this, in the blistery morning  Mae Fort©

Not a challenge, but an exercise.

This is a post about---If you had three words to describe yourself (a color, a sound, a word of your choice) what would they be? As asked by Mandy, from NaNoWriMo. Mine: Lavender, Birds, Searching. It's color of my hands as I sit here and watch. The feeling that I have when I'm bundled up all soft. The feeling of the wind as it runs through my hair, it's the crisp morning air as I whisper, and ne'er. How do I look when the water turns cold, yet it's the beauty that I see when the heather is foretold. The sense that I feel when the light is not yet dawned, it's the time of the day when it is not quite beyond. The color in this place of time, that I find to be, lavender. The sound when morning is just a frond, the paleness of the plants and growing tendrils. The glittering notes that you hear just outside. It's clear, yet soft, but it's enough. To make the world sound so near. The sound of birds. Restless, yet inviting. Searching, and enticing....

Ballet and Rock

Last night I had my first ballet class in over 10 years. It was so much fun! Not to mention I met some cool people there as well. I'm going to probably be taking the class consistently, though this first time was just a drop in to see if I would even like doing it–which I did! I look forward to doing a dance class once a week or so.  For those of you that don't know, I injured one of my knees a little under 2 years ago while doing some craziness, pulling a muscle that connects to the kneecap. The other was messed up several years before that, the muscles off to the outside and a little below the knee get painful cramps when it's cold and damp.  However! I'm still one of the most competitive people I know. Mainly because I have a great deal of pride, and that's not a good thing. Though, at the same time, I don't always let my injuries slow me down. I'm still one of the more active dancers at my youth group, and I'm probably one of the ones more willin...

Your thoughts, my friend–they're up to you.

Do you ever just find a quote that seems to just be so profound or just makes you think, that particular way of thinking that makes you think, 'shouldn't I have already known this?' But not in the, 'this is dumb' manner, more the, 'shouldn't this be just how it is?' realm of thinking. Tell me your thoughts on these, I'm interested. Remembering, is that the key? Or forgetting? Forgetting even time itself? Such a feat not easily managed, nor lightly accomplished.

Poem

Rain, rain, why do they always tell you, Go away?  Rain, rain, come back another day, Don't you know I want to play?  Rain, rain, your touch like laughter. Rain, rain, run helter skelter.  Don't you see me running now, Wishing you would come back down.  Rain, rain, you sooth my fears. Rain, rain, like I have no fears.  Rain, rain, I wish you well, Rain, rain, you lift my spell.  Rain, rain, like sweetened honey, Rain, rain, you are so funny!  Rain, rain, you move like the ocean, Never stopping, never ceasing.  Rain, rain, with you, I feel like I am breathing. 18 Days

18 days since I last posted on here. 18 days since I haven't really had much to say. 18 days. A number of people are going to be turning 18 this year. We're all panicking together. Though, I think I'm starting to panic less as I realize that I don't in fact actually need to panic. 18 is just a number. 18 is just another part of life. I want to change my thinking process, to no longer be fearful of simply turning another year older. Because now, more and more, I'm realizing just how blessed I am to have this life. 18 years alive on this earth, is a blessing. I've always not been one to hurry, whether to get my ears pierced, to learn how to drive, or be brave enough to go to a sleep over. My life is full of slower processes. Many people don't seem to grasp that. But those that do have come to respect the fact that that's a part of me, and who I am. That I like to take my time, because most times when I go blindly rushing in, it doesn't end well....

Achievement Unlocked: Day of Firsts

Today was full of more fun than I would have given it credit for this morning. Considering I was more than just a bit peeved when I realized I wasn't told about meeting up with friends to watch my towns parade, not to mention I didn't know the parade was today. However, once we got there things improved greatly! While this was the second year I've gone to go see the parade, and only a little under a year of knowing a whole lot of my friends here, today was still full of firsts. 1) I took pictures of the parade with my film camera. 1b) Someone moved right in front of my camera right as I took a picture of a team of horses that I wanted to get a picture of. 1c) My friend and I made a lot of sarcastic comments about some of the people in the parade, mainly the ones that were on their smart phones.. seriously! You're riding horses in a parade and you're on your phone!? Who does that? 1d) Very few people wave in our parade... and I don't know why. 2) I bought...

A daily life

Or a day in life, both are correct when you think about it.  So a number of things are already happening today, and other things being planned on getting done today. But for now, as far as things have happened already today: Tai Chi, calculated my bedroom to see if I could survive living in a Japanese sized apartment (Which I could), got excited about re-hydrating myself (constant state of dehydration, you're going down.) to the point where I've given myself a painful case of the hiccups, and looked at some old family photos.  As far as what else is planned for today: Painting, eating lunch, some school I guess if I can actually grasp any of it, and getting rid of these hiccups!!  So apparently the average size of a Japanese apartment is around 1,300 sq. ft. My bedroom is (rounded up) 259 sq. ft. Yes, I have a very large room, but to be fair I've got it essentially set up as an ultra mini apartment, and could probably very happily live in something just as big. Just...

Because I can

Image
Because I am a writer and an artist, and because these were about the same price as all the boring stuff in the store--I bought some awesome writing and art supplies. So without any more delay, the spoils of war findings from today's adventure.   Mechanical pencils with woodland creatures! Foxes, hedgehogs (I think), owls, and racoons! Not to mention refillable, that's always a nice option. Washi tape and molded erasers! If you don't know what washi tape is, go look it up an oogle at all the designs available. They vary in sizes as well, this one is 1" wide, with a carnival design, I've already put a strip across my computer for a decoration. The molded pizza erasers actually come apart, the cheese layer and then the green and red toppings! Although some people collect them, I prefer to use them as they work very well with the types of paper I use. Might as well make what I use fun! Elephant note paper, and two googly eyed push pins...

Somebody noticed!

So although a lot of the times it's fine if people don't notice things, but for some reason when someone does notice something about me, like the fact that I got new glasses, or am rockin' the one earring style, I feel really happy inside. Not really because of, "oooh, compliments!" (also, how do you respond to compliments? I'm running out of ways to say thank you) but because I feel happy that they took the time to notice something about me and to just, well, take the time to care about me and to talk to me and such. It's a happy and warm fuzzy feeling inside of me because, "You took the time to notice something about me most people don't, and I want to thank you for taking the time to say something nice to me. Even if at the time it might seem a bit insignificant."  Now that would be a lot to say every single time somebody did that, but in short it really makes me feel loved when people like to just point out little details like new glas...

My Blag.

Blag, Blog, Bloooooooog. Tell me, did you read that last one with a oo like blue sound, or a long drawn out oh?  Either way it's still ridiculous and I love it because it messes people up and some days it's just a little fun to mess with people :) I really want this mug - awesome mug<---clickey clickey I also really want to write during Camp NaNoWriMo. That might sound strange but I am really pumped right now to write, and I am seriously messing up so many words right now that if I did not go back and correct them this would be a totally illegible blog post.  Someday I will post without any proofreading just to prove my point. That day I shall lose many writer-followers for being willing to post such a terrible monstrosity.  I shall therefore continue to use words like therefore and regain their trust.  In short right now, WRITING IS SO MUCH FUN! LIKE SERIOUSLY. IT'S SO AWESOME. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT BUT I'M SO EXCITED AND PUMPED RIGHT...

Bit of Nostalgia

Yes, I still have 9 unfinished blog posts. Yes, I should be eating lunch instead of shortbread cookies. And yes, I really should be doing more schoolwork.  But to quite fair and completely honest, I do have a touch of nostalgia for some of the posts on my old blog. The Wandering Narnian. I don't really know what I plan on doing with it, or what I really planned to do with some of those old posts, but several of them were to me, quite well done. (At the time at least. Some do make me slightly cringe.)  It's going something like this in my head. You already have Bible Notes starting on your blog. You already don't finish your drafted posts on your blog. You haven't written those last two scenes on your novel. You really should do more school. And, you really should just finish something to begin with so you can move onto the next thing instead of multitasking ineffectively.  So, I will probably be having some old posts from an old blog be resurfacing soon. And...

Because I'm a mature and respondible adult...

Or at least I will be in a little under a year now! Till then I'm not going to really push it!  :D That being said. I did something very childlike today, mainly because it's snowing, and it's super perfect for making snowballs--I was also the only one wearing gloves. So like any mature sibling would, I pelted my brother with as many as I could make till he started making snowballs without gloves. I still managed to nail him a couple times! :) And promptly ran back inside because it was cold and proceeded to make hot chocolate like any intelligent human being in my family would.  (Though I did add cinnamon to my cup, my siblings are gonna just have to deal unless they find the cinnamon... it took me a little bit and I'm the one that helped rearrange all the spices O.o)  As it is currently, I told them about ten minutes ago the cocoa was ready and they still haven't gotten any -_- can't blame me if it gets cold. Can only heat up milk so many times before it ge...
